There is a specific chapter in Frank G. Slaughter's That None Should Die the main character is treating a pneumonic guy.

It was such an intense reading, that I wanted to figure out what was going on in the head of the man delirious man.

It may seems nonsense like musical ambiance, but for me, becoming completely crazy can have a funky touch in it...
